National Maritime Day is May 22, aimed at recognizing the benefits of the maritime industry.

The holiday is observed on the same date each year because it is the day that the steamship Savannah set sail from Georgia on the first ever transoceanic voyage under steam power in 1819. The US Congress officially created the holiday in 1933.

This year, the Propeller Club, Port of Boston, will honor the day with a luncheon a few days prior to the official observance at the World Trade Center, Seaport Hotel Plaza Ballroom, on May 20. Working With an Attorney Following a Maritime Accident

Our law firm has worked with countless individuals involved in the maritime industry including commercial fishermen, merchant seamen, researchers, pleasure boaters, longshoremen and dockworkers. We fully support honoring National Maritime Day, and educating the public about the importance and the dangers associated with maritime employment.

Unfortunately, thousands of people are seriously injured or killed each year in avoidable accidents on U.S. coastal waters. Our attorneys have been providing victims and their family members with expertise in maritime law for more than 50 years.

In the video above, attorney David Anderson explains how our firm represents maritime injury victims from all over the country, not just the Massachusetts area. Our firm thoroughly understands maritime and admiralty law—many lawyers throughout the country refer their clients to us because of our expertise.
