Jeffery Singley of Fort Washington, MD, the driver of a rented Ford Explorer rental vehicle, was parked on the port side of the ferry vessel. The crash occurred when he stepped on the gas, accidentally rammed into a Honda Civic and pinned it against the starboard bulkhead.
The occupants of the Civic were transported to Cape Regional Medical Center by Lower Township EMS.
The MV Delaware sustained minor damage, largely cosmetic. The ferry schedule was delayed for approximately an hour while crews attended to the cleanup. Another vessel in the ferry fleet took over while the accident scene was cleared. The accident is still being investigated by the local police department.
