A couple of boaters fell overboard into the chilly Alaskan water when their 17-foot skiff hit ground at Kanga Bay near Sitka. This bay, which is in Southeast Alaska, is off an island that is only accessible by boat, plane or helicopter. Fortunately, a 9-11 call was made around 10 p.m. before the situation could become any more perilous.

The coast guard was able to rescue the two boaters, who had been stranded when their boat drifted off. One of the two boaters suffered injuries to his head and face. Both of the victims were transported to a hospital via a helicopter.

Investigators still have not determined the cause of the accident.

What Should I Do If I Am Injured in a Boating Accident?

As maritime trial lawyer David Anderson says in the video above, seek medical attention and contact a maritime attorney. An attorney that deals with nationwide boating accidents will know whether you have grounds to file a lawsuit for your injuries or not.

A successful legal battle against a negligent skiff manufacturer or maritime-related company can help you secure compensation for your expenses, pain and suffering. To learn more about your legal options, schedule a free consultation with an experienced boat accident attorney today.
